Matti Aarne Karinen has more than 30 years of international experience in the resources and sustainability sectors, covering mining, metals, energy, agribusiness, and renewable technologies. He has worked in leadership roles across Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America.

At EVerde, Matti oversees the Commercial and ESG functions, including market strategy, partnerships, responsible sourcing, and the implementation of sustainability standards across the company’s nickel mining and HPAL operations.

Before joining EVerde, Matti held senior roles at Partners in Performance, Green Resources, Golden Veroleum Liberia, and several renewable energy and sustainable land-use ventures. He also has experience with McKinsey & Company and has worked extensively in Indonesia.

Matti holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Computer Science from Tampere University. He focuses on practical, data-driven decision-making and building effective organisational capabilities to support long-term business performance.
